Crazy stuff

Today I got a haircut, and my hairdresser convinced me to change my parting from left side to right side. She said that changing parting can prevent hair loss around the original parting, and the new parting would have more volume to it. So after that, i googled hair parting, and came upon this article .

"A left hair part draws unconscious attention to the left side of the brain, which controls activities traditionally associated with masculinity. A right hair part draws unconscious attention to the right side of the brain, which controls activities traditionally associated with femininity. [...]A woman who parts her hair on the left and wants acceptance in a traditionally male role - business, for example, or politics - will be taken more seriously than a woman with a right part."

It's kinda crazy how they show different pictures to support the theory. Anyways, just thought it's interesting, i guess i am more "feminine" now because my parting is on the right side.

hey thats interesting. what happens if you part straight in the middle? there are times when I debated parting on the side, and if i did my hair works better if part on the left. hmmm dunt think i'm masculine though lol...

If you read the article, it says parting in the middle is natural for women. It emphasized that the theory is mostly significant for men. It said that it really doesn't make a big difference for women to part whichever way (but does for men). I do notice that parting for women is about 50/50 for right and left side. But for men, they seem to prefer to part on the left side (i googled John Roberts, Brian williams, Stephen Colbert, Stephen Spielberg, all part on left)

That's a pretty interesting theory but I'd have to say it doesn't really work for me either because I part my hair on the left side and I don't think I'm masculine at all. I'm definitely a girly-girl. I've noticed with people when I'm doing their hair, they will usually part it on the side that's most natural to their direction of hair growth more so than whether or not they are more masculine or feminine and with guys I have asked them why they part it on a certain side and usually it's because their hair just falls that way or they'll say if they are right handed it's easier to comb if the part is on the left and vice-versa. Yeah, Theda does tell people to switch up their parts which is a good idea!!=)
